Then Absalom and all of the men of Israel said, “The advice of Hushai the Arkite is better than the advice of Ahithophel.” For the Lord had decided to undermine the prudent advice of Ahithophel, so that the Lord might bring calamity to Absalom.


The Lord executes righteousness and justice for all who are oppressed.


“Because the poor are plundered, because the needy sigh, now I will arise,” says the Lord; “I will place him in the safety for which he yearns.”


Though I walk in the midst of trouble, You will preserve me; You will stretch Your hand out against the wrath of my enemies, and Your right hand will deliver me.


For the enemy has persecuted my soul; he has crushed my life to the ground; he has made me dwell in darkness, like those who have long been dead.


Arise, O  Lord; save me, O my God! For You have struck all my enemies on the cheek; You have broken the teeth of the wicked.


Plead my cause, O  Lord, with those who contend with me; fight against those who fight against me!


Stir up Yourself, and awake for my defense, for my cause, my God and my Lord!


Awake! Why do You sleep, O Lord? Arise! Do not cast us off forever!


Arise, be our help. Redeem us for the sake of Your lovingkindness!


You, O  Lord God of Hosts, the God of Israel, awake to punish all the nations; do not be merciful to any wicked transgressors.   Selah


Like a dream when one awakes, O Lord, when awakened, You will despise their image.


Direct Your steps to the irreparable ruins; the enemy has destroyed everything in the sanctuary.


Then the Lord awoke as one out of sleep, like a mighty man who shouts because of wine.


The Lord stands up to plead and stands to judge the people.


“Now I will rise,” says the Lord, “now I will be exalted, now I will be lifted up.


Now, O  Lord our God, save us from his hand that all the kingdoms of the earth may know that You alone, Lord, are God.”


Awake, awake, put on strength, O arm of the Lord. Awake as in the ancient days, in the generations of old. Was it not You who cut Rahab to pieces and wounded the dragon?
