or darkness, so that you cannot see; and an abundance of waters covers you.


For this cause everyone who is godly will pray to You in a time when You may be found; surely in the flood of great waters, they shall not reach him.


He also brought me up out of a horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my steps.


Behold, all the women who are left in the house of the king of Judah will be brought out to the officers of the king of Babylon; and those women shall say: ‘Your friends have misled and prevailed against you; while your feet were sunk in the mud, they turned back.’


Then they took Jeremiah and cast him into the cistern of Malkijah the son of Hammelech that was in the court of the prison, and they let Jeremiah down with cords. And in the cistern there was no water, only mud, so Jeremiah sank in the mud.


I went down to the foundations of the mountains; the earth with its bars was around me forever; yet You have brought up my life from the pit, O  Lord my God.


And the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house. And it did not fall, for it was founded on a rock.
