Or, ‘Deliver me from the power of the enemy’? Or, ‘From the power of the oppressors, liberate me’?


Why do You stand far off, O  Lord? Why do You hide Yourself in times of trouble?


He has sent redemption to His people; He has commanded His covenant forever; holy and awesome is His name.


Answer me quickly, O  Lord; my spirit fails! Hide not Your face from me, lest I be like those who go down into the pit.


My God, my God, why have You forsaken me? Why are You so far from helping me, and from the words of my groaning?


Many bulls surround me; strong bulls of Bashan encircle me.


But You, O  Lord, do not be far from me; O my Strength, come quickly to help me!


Deliver my soul from the sword, my precious life from the power of the dog!


Do not hide Your face from me; do not turn thrust Your servant away in anger; You have been my help. Do not leave me nor forsake me, O God of my salvation.


Into Your hand I commit my spirit; You have redeemed me, O  Lord, God of truth.


But God will redeem my soul from the power of Sheol, for He will receive me.    Selah


O the Hope of Israel, its Savior in time of trouble, why should You be as a stranger in the land, and as a wayfaring man who turns aside to pitch his tent for a night?


You drew near on the day I called on You, and You said, “Do not fear!”


however, I feared the wrath of the enemy, that their adversaries would misunderstand and say, “Our hand is victorious, and the Lord has not done all this.”


The Canaanites and all the inhabitants of the land may hear, turn on us, and cut off our name from the earth. What will You do for Your great name?”
