to judge the orphan and the oppressed; man on earth no longer trembles.


The Lord executes righteousness and justice for all who are oppressed.


“Because the poor are plundered, because the needy sigh, now I will arise,” says the Lord; “I will place him in the safety for which he yearns.”


who gives food to all flesh, for His mercy endures forever.


Bring my soul out of prison, that I may give thanks to Your name; the righteous shall surround me, for You shall deal bountifully with me.


All my bones shall say, “Lord, who is like You, delivering the poor from him who is too strong for him, the poor and the needy from him who plunders him?”


God settles the solitary in a home; He leads out the prisoners to prosperity, but the rebellious dwell in a dry land.


O God, when You went forth before Your people, when You marched through the wilderness,   Selah


May he vindicate the afflicted of the people, save the children of the needy, and crush the oppressor.


The Lord is known by the judgment that He executes; the wicked is snared in the work of his own hands. Higgaion.   Selah


The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me because the Lord has anointed me to preach good news to the poor; He has sent me to heal the broken-hearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to those who are bound;


For You have broken the yoke of his burden and the bar of his shoulder, the rod of his oppressor as in the day of Midian’s defeat.


I will satiate the soul of the priests with abundance, and My people shall be satisfied with My goodness, says the Lord.


Then I will draw near to you for judgment. I will be a swift witness against the sorcerers, against the adulterers, against the perjurers, against those who oppress the hired worker in his wages, the widow and the fatherless, against those who turn aside the stranger, and do not fear Me, says the Lord of Hosts.


He has filled the hungry with good things, and the rich He has sent away empty.


“The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, because He has anointed Me to preach the gospel to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the broken-hearted, to preach deliverance to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed;


They all ate and were filled, and twelve baskets of broken pieces that remained were collected.


Suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken. And immediately all the doors were opened and everyone’s shackles were loosened.


But during the night an angel of the Lord opened the prison doors and led them out, and said,
