Then Jabez called on the God of Israel, saying, “Oh, that You would indeed bless me and enlarge my territory, that Your hand might be with me, and that You would keep me from evil, that it may not bring me hardship!” So God granted what he asked.


O  Lord, I cry unto You; make haste to me! Give ear to my voice when I cry unto You.


Hear the voice of my supplications when I cry to You, when I lift up my hands toward Your most holy place.


I cried to You, O  Lord, and to the Lord I made supplication:


Blessed is he whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is covered.


Save me, O God, by Your name, and vindicate me by Your strength.


Be merciful to me, O God, be merciful to me! For in You my soul takes refuge; in the shadow of Your wings will I take refuge, until these calamities pass by.


The world was not worthy of them. They wandered in deserts and mountains, in dens and caves of the earth.


He came to the sheep pens by the way and a cave was there. And Saul went in to relieve himself. Now David and his men were sitting in the rear of the cave.
