Yet for Your sake we are killed all day long; we are regarded as sheep to be slaughtered.


There they are, in great fear, where there is nothing to fear, for God has scattered the bones of him who encamps against you; you have put them to shame, because God has rejected them.


As it is written: “For Your sake we are killed all day long; we are counted as sheep for the slaughter.”


We had the sentence of death in ourselves, so that we would not trust in ourselves, but in God who raises the dead.


They were stoned, they were sawn in two, were tempted, were slain with the sword. They wandered around in sheepskins and goatskins, while destitute, afflicted, and tormented.
