That same day Isaac’s servants came and told him about the well that they had dug and said to him, “We have found water.”


He who gathers in summer is a wise son, but he who sleeps in harvest is a son who brings shame.


One gives freely, and yet increases; another withholds what is due, but only suffers want.


The hand of the diligent will rule, but the lazy will be put to forced labor.


The lazy man does not roast his game, but diligence is the precious wealth of man.


The soul of the sluggard desires and gets nothing, but the soul of the diligent will be made fat.


He who is slack in his work is brother to him who is a master of destruction.


Slothfulness casts a man into a deep sleep, and an idle soul will suffer hunger.


A sluggard hides his hand in the bowl; he will not bring it to his mouth again.


Love not sleep, lest you come to poverty; open your eyes, and you will have enough bread.


The sluggard will not plow in season; he will beg at harvest and have nothing.


The plans of the diligent lead surely to profit, but of everyone who is hasty, surely to poverty.


By slothfulness the rafters cave in, and by the idleness of one’s hands the house drips.


Do not work for the food which perishes, but for that food which endures to eternal life, which the Son of Man will give you. For God the Father has set His seal on Him.”


Therefore, my beloved brothers, be steadfast, unmovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labor in the Lord is not in vain.
