When those who were carrying the ark of the Lord had taken six steps, David would sacrifice an ox and a fattened steer.


They loaded the ark of God on a new cart and brought it from the house of Abinadab, which was on the hill. Uzzah and Ahio the sons of Abinadab were driving the new cart.


When they came to the threshing floor of Nakon, Uzzah reached out and took hold of the ark of God, because the oxen had stumbled.


All the elders of Israel came, and the priests carried the ark.


Because you did not carry it the first time, the Lord our God broke out against us, because we did not seek Him about the proper procedures.”


David assembled all Israel to Jerusalem in order to bring up the ark of the Lord to the place he had prepared for it.


And so the Levites no longer need to carry the tabernacle and all its implements for its service.”


Their duty included the ark, and the table, and the lampstand, and the altars, and the vessels of the sanctuary they minister with, and the hanging, and all its service.
