David mustered the people who were with him, and he set over them commanders of thousands and commanders of hundreds.


He said to him, “Thus says the Lord, ‘Because you have let go out of your hand a man whom I had appointed to utter destruction, you shall pay for his life with your life and his people with your people.’ ”


Then the man of God was angry with him and said, “You should have struck it five or six times. Then you would have stricken Aram until you had finished them. Now you will strike Aram just three times.”


As soon as he came near the camp, he saw the calf and the dancing, and Moses’ anger burned, so he threw the tablets from his hands and shattered them at the bottom of the mountain.


Aaron said, “Do not let the anger of my lord burn. You know that the people are set on evil.


Moses diligently inquired about the goat of the sin offering, and behold, it was burned up. And he was angry with Eleazar and Ithamar, the sons of Aaron who were left alive, saying,


(Now the man Moses was very humble, more than all the men on the face of the earth.)

The officers who were over thousands of the army, the captains of thousands, and captains of hundreds, came near to Moses,


Be angry but do not sin. Do not let the sun go down on your anger.


and in order to assign for himself captains of thousands and captains of fifties, and to plow his ground, and to gather in his harvest, and to make his weapons of war and the equipment of his chariots.
