Israel sent messengers to Sihon king of the Amorites, saying,


Then the Israelites set out and camped in the plains of Moab on the other side of the Jordan from Jericho.


He brought him into the field of Zophim, to the top of Pisgah, and built seven altars and offered a bull and a ram on each altar.


Balak brought Balaam to the top of Peor, which looks toward Jeshimon.


These were counted by Moses and Eleazar the priest, who counted the Israelites in the plains of Moab by Jordan near Jericho.


Across the Jordan, in the land of Moab, Moses began to declare this law, saying:


Get up to the top of Pisgah and lift up your eyes to the west and north and south and east, and see it with your eyes, for you shall not cross over this Jordan.


Moses went up from the plains of Moab to Mount Nebo, to the top of Pisgah, which is opposite Jericho. Then the Lord showed him all the land—from Gilead to Dan,


with all the Arabah across the Jordan to the east, even to the sea of the Arabah, under the slopes of Pisgah.
