Now the Lord said to Abram, “Go from your country, your family, and your father’s house to the land that I will show you.


Now you surely have gone away because you longed desperately after your father’s house, yet why have you stolen my gods?”


Listen, O daughter, consider and incline your ear; forget your own people and your father’s house,


Moses sent out his father-in-law, and he went his way to his own land.


“What do you think? A man had two sons. He came to the first and said, ‘Son, go work today in my vineyard.’


“He answered, ‘I will not,’ but afterward he repented and went.


“If anyone comes to Me and does not hate his father and mother and wife and children and brothers and sisters, yes, and even his own life, he cannot be My disciple.


So from now on we do not regard anyone according to the flesh. Yes, though we have known Christ according to the flesh, yet we do not regard Him as such from now on.


These all died in faith not having received the promises, but having seen them from afar were assured of them, embraced them, and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth.


By faith Abraham obeyed when he was called to go out into a place which he would later receive as an inheritance. He went out not knowing where he was going.


The descendants of Moses’ father-in-law, the Kenite, went up with the descendants of Judah from the City of Palms to the Negev near Arad. Then they went and lived with the people.
