Now, Absalom had commanded his servant, “Look for Amnon to become carefree on account of the wine. Then I will say to you, ‘Strike Amnon, and kill him.’ Do not be afraid, for am not I myself commanding you? Be strong and brave.”


They surrounded me like bees; they were extinguished like a fire of thorns, but in the name of the Lord I destroyed them.


As smoke is driven away, so drive them away; as wax melts before the fire, so let the wicked perish before God.


In the greatness of Your excellence, You overthrow those who rise up against You. You send out Your wrath; it consumes them like stubble.


So the people scattered abroad throughout all the land of Egypt to gather stubble for straw.


I have no fury. Should someone give Me briers and thorns in battle, then I would step on them, I would burn them fully.

When they become heated up, I will make their feasts, and I will make them drunk, that they may rejoice, and sleep a perpetual sleep, and not awake, says the Lord.
