Unstable as water, you shall not excel, because you went up to your father’s bed; then you defiled it—he went up to my couch.

There is a generation that curses its father, and does not bless its mother.


The eye that mocks a father and scorns to obey a mother, the ravens of the valley will pluck it out, and the young vultures will eat it.


The people shall be oppressed, every one by another, and every one by his neighbor; the youth shall behave himself proudly against the elder, and the inferior against the honorable.


Through the wrath of the Lord of Hosts is the land burned up, and the people shall be as fuel for the fire; no man shall spare his brother.

Let everyone be on guard against his neighbor, and do not trust in any brother; for every brother supplants, and every neighbor walks about with slanders.


In you they have treated father and mother with contempt. In your midst they have dealt with the stranger by oppression. In you they have vexed the fatherless and the widow.


All your confederates have driven you to the border; your allies have deceived and prevailed against you. Those who eat your bread have set a trap for you. You will not detect it.


“The brother will deliver up the brother to death, and the father the child. And the children will rise up against their parents and cause them to be put to death.


He answered, “He who has dipped his hand with Me in the dish will betray Me.


They will be divided, father against son and son against father, mother against daughter and daughter against mother, and mother-in-law against her daughter-in-law and daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law.”


You will be betrayed by parents and brothers and relatives and friends. And they will put some of you to death.
