Even my own familiar friend, in whom I trusted, who ate of my bread, has lifted up the heel against me.


They bend their tongues like their bow; lies and not truth prevail upon the land; for they proceed from evil to evil, and they do not know Me, says the Lord.


Let everyone be on guard against his neighbor, and do not trust in any brother; for every brother supplants, and every neighbor walks about with slanders.


She weeps sorely in the night, her tears are on her cheeks; among all her lovers she has none to comfort her. All her friends have dealt treacherously with her; they have become her enemies.


“Behold, I am sending you out as sheep in the midst of wolves. Therefore be wise as serpents and harmless as doves.
