“Hear, O My people, and I will speak, O Israel, I will testify against you; I am God, your God.


Against You, You only, have I sinned, and done what is evil in Your sight, so that You are justified when you speak, and blameless when You pass judgment.


“Oh, that My people would listen to Me, and Israel would walk in My ways!


Hear, O My people, and I will admonish you. O Israel, if you would listen to me!


What more could have been done to My vineyard that I have not done in it? Why, when I expected it to bring forth good grapes, did it bring forth wild grapes?


O generation, consider the word of the Lord: Have I been a wilderness to Israel? A land of darkness? Why do My people say, “We are free to roam. We will come no more to You”?


Thus says the Lord: What iniquity have your fathers found in Me, that they have gone far from Me, and have walked after vanity and have become vain?


O My people, remember now what Balak king of Moab counseled, and what Balaam son of Beor answered him, and remember what happened from Shittim to Gilgal, so that you might know the righteous acts of the Lord.”


Now we know that whatever the law says, it says to those who are under the law, so that every mouth may be silenced, and all the world may become accountable to God.
