In the days of Pekah king of Israel, Tiglath-Pileser king of Assyria came and took Ijon, Abel of Beth-maacah, Janoah, Kedesh, Hazor, Gilead, Galilee, and all the land of Naphtali, and then exiled them to Assyria.


Cush fathered Nimrod, who began to be mighty on the earth.


So the Lord brought on them the officials of the army of the king of Assyria. They captured Manasseh with hooks, and they bound him in bronze chains and led him to Babylon.


After my words they did not speak again, and my speech settled on them like dew.


Your people will follow you in the day of your battle; on the holy mountains, at the dawn of the morning, the dew of your youth belongs to you.


May he descend like rain upon the mown grass, like showers that water the earth.


The people shall take them and bring them to their place, and the house of Israel shall possess them in the land of the Lord for servants and handmaids; and they shall take them captive, whose captives they were, and they shall rule over their oppressors.


that I will break the Assyrian in My land, and on My mountains tread him underfoot. Then shall his yoke depart from off them and his burden depart from off their shoulders.


Woe to you, O destroyer, though you were not destroyed, and he who is treacherous, though others did not deal treacherously with you! When you cease destroying, you shall be destroyed; and when you finish dealing treacherously, others shall deal treacherously with you.


Then the angel of the Lord went out and struck one hundred and eighty-five thousand in the camp of the Assyrians. When others woke up early in the morning, behold, these were all dead bodies.


So Sennacherib king of Assyria departed and returned home and lived in Nineveh.


But yet in it shall be one-tenth, and it shall return, and shall be burned, as a terebinth tree or as an oak, whose stump remains when it is cut down, so the holy seed is its stump.”


Are there any among the idols of the nations that can cause rain? Or can the heavens give showers? Is it not You, O  Lord our God? Therefore, we will wait upon You, for You have done all these things.


Where is the den of the lions, and the feeding place of the young lions, where the lion and lioness prowl, and the lion’s cub goes, with no one to disturb them?


And He will stretch out His hand against the north and destroy Assyria; and He will make Nineveh a desolation, and dry like the desert.


But I will leave in your midst a meek and humble people, and they will trust in the name of the Lord.


that we should be saved from our enemies and from the hand of all who hate us,


to grant us that we, being delivered out of the hand of our enemies, might serve Him without fear,


And beginning with Moses and all the Prophets, He explained to them the things concerning Himself in all the Scriptures.


My teaching will drop like the rain, my sayings will distill as the dew, as the droplets on the grass, and as the showers on the herb.
