Rachel died and was buried on the way to Ephrath, which is Bethlehem.


The scepter shall not depart from Judah, nor a lawgiver from between his feet, until Shiloh comes; and to him will be the obedience of the people.


Then Zedekiah the son of Kenaanah walked up and struck Micaiah on the cheek and said, “Which way did the spirit of the Lord go from me in order to speak to you?”


The Lord sent against him bands of Chaldeans, bands of Arameans, bands of Moabites, and bands of Ammonites. He sent them against Judah to destroy it, according to the word of the Lord that He spoke by His servants the prophets.


They have gaped upon me with their mouth; they have struck me upon the cheek with reproach; they have gathered themselves together against me.


Ages ago I was established, at the beginning, before the earth existed.


I will send him against an ungodly nation, and against the people of My wrath I will give him a command, to seize the plunder, to take the prey, and to tread them down like the mire of the streets.


for the Lord is our Judge, the Lord is our Lawgiver, the Lord is our king; He will save us.


Be broken, O you peoples, and be broken in pieces. And give ear, all you from far countries. Gird yourselves, but be broken in pieces; gird yourselves, but be broken in pieces.


For all the sandals of the tramping warriors and all the garments rolled in blood shall be burned as fuel for the fire.

Let him give his cheek to the one who strikes, and let him be filled with insults.

Son of man, write the name of the day, this same day. The king of Babylon has laid siege to Jerusalem this same day.


“Know therefore and understand that from the going forth of the command to restore and to rebuild Jerusalem until the Prince Messiah shall be seven weeks, and sixty-two weeks. It shall be built again, with plaza and moat, even in times of trouble.


Proclaim this among the nations: Consecrate a war! Stir up the mighty men! Let all the men of war draw near and rise.


I will cut off the ruler from its midst, and will slay all its princes with him, says the Lord.


For I am raising up the Chaldeans, that bitter and hasty nation which marches through the breadth of the earth, to possess dwelling places that are not theirs.


I heard, and my body trembled; my lips quivered at the sound; rottenness entered my bones; my legs tremble beneath me. Yet I will wait quietly for the day when calamity comes on the people invading us.


Then they spit in His face and struck Him. And others slapped Him with the palms of their hands,


They spit on Him, and took the staff and hit Him on the head.


But I say to you, do not resist an evil person. But whoever strikes you on your right cheek, turn to him the other as well.


When He had said this, one of the officers who stood by struck Jesus with the palm of his hand, saying, “Is that how You answer the high priest?”


They said, “Hail, King of the Jews!” And they hit Him with their hands.


The high priest Ananias ordered those who stood by him to strike him on the mouth.


For you permit it if a man brings you into bondage, if a man devours you, if a man takes from you, if a man exalts himself, or if a man strikes you on the face.


The Lord will bring a nation against you from far away, from the end of the earth, as swift as the eagle flies, a nation whose language you will not understand,


The eternal God is your refuge, and underneath you are the everlasting arms; He will drive out the enemy before you, and will say, “Destroy them.”


There was a young man from Bethlehem in Judah. He was a Levite from Judah, and he stayed as a resident foreigner there.
