If he withdraws into a city, then all of Israel will bring ropes to that city. We will raze it until it is a valley, until there cannot be found there even a pebble.”


He seized it at the end of three years. In the sixth year of Hezekiah, that is, the ninth year of Hoshea king of Israel, Samaria was taken.


In the fourth year of King Hezekiah, which was the seventh year of Hoshea son of Elah, king of Israel, Shalmaneser king of Assyria came up against Samaria and besieged it.


“Have you not heard? Long ago I arranged it, in ancient times I formed it; now I bring it to pass, that you will turn impregnable cities into desolate heaps of stones.


The oracle of Damascus. Behold, Damascus will cease from being a city; it shall be a ruinous heap.


The unassailable fortresses of your walls He shall bring down, lay low, and bring to the ground, even to the dust.


For You have made a city into a heap, a fortified city into a ruin; a palace of strangers is a city no longer; it shall never be built.


You will yet plant vines on the mountains of Samaria; the planters will plant and will enjoy them.


Behold, I am against you, O destroying mountain, says the Lord, who destroys all the earth. And I will stretch out My hand against you, and roll you down from the rocks, and will make you a burned mountain.

I will make Jerusalem a heap of ruins and a den of jackals; and I will make the cities of Judah desolate, without an inhabitant.


How the gold has become dim! How the most fine gold has changed! The stones of the sanctuary lie scattered at the head of every street.


So I will break down the wall that you have daubed with whitewash, and bring it down to the ground so that its foundation is laid bare. And when it falls, you shall be consumed in its midst. And you shall know that I am the Lord.


Samaria will be held guilty, for she has rebelled against her God. They will fall by the sword, their infants will be dashed to pieces, and their pregnant women will be ripped open.


Therefore, because you trample on the poor and take from him a levy of wheat, though you have built houses of hewn stone, you will not dwell in them; though you have planted pleasant vineyards, you will not drink their wine.


The Lord God hath sworn by Himself, an oracle of the Lord the God of Hosts: I abhor the pride of Jacob and hate his palaces, so I will deliver up the city with all that is in it.


Therefore, because of you, Zion will be plowed like a field, Jerusalem will be mounds of ruins, and the mountain of the house will become wooded heights.


You went forth to deliver Your people, to deliver Your anointed one. You wounded the head of the house of the wicked, laying him bare from head to foot.    Selah


Jesus answered them, “Do you not see all these things? Truly I say to you, not one stone shall be left here upon another that shall not be thrown down.”
