They said to the king, “Regarding the man who put an end to us and planned to exterminate us from the entire territory of Israel,


He loved cursing; so let it come on him; He did not delight in blessing; so let it be far from him.


eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot,


Woe to you, O destroyer, though you were not destroyed, and he who is treacherous, though others did not deal treacherously with you! When you cease destroying, you shall be destroyed; and when you finish dealing treacherously, others shall deal treacherously with you.


Therefore thus says the Lord: You have not obeyed Me in proclaiming liberty, everyone to his brother and every man to his neighbor. Behold, I proclaim a liberty to you, says the Lord, to the sword, to the pestilence, and to the famine; and I will make you a terror to all the kingdoms of the earth.


I will render to Babylon and to all the inhabitants of Chaldea all their evil that they have done in Zion in your sight, says the Lord.


For the day of the Lord is near upon all the nations; as you have done, it shall be done to you; your deeds shall return on your own head.


For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you.


He said to them, “Take heed what you hear. The measure you give will be measured for you, and to you who hear will more be given.


Give, and it will be given to you: Good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over will men give unto you. For with the measure you use, it will be measured unto you.”


But this I say: He who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and he who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully.


For he who has shown no mercy will have judgment without mercy, for mercy triumphs over judgment.


Render to her as she has rendered to you, and repay her double for her deeds; in the cup which she has mixed, mix a double portion for her.
