Then Zedekiah the son of Kenaanah walked up and struck Micaiah on the cheek and said, “Which way did the spirit of the Lord go from me in order to speak to you?”


They have gaped upon me with their mouth; they have struck me upon the cheek with reproach; they have gathered themselves together against me.


Do not say, “I will pay back evil.” Wait on the Lord, and He will save you.


Do not say, “I will do to him as he has done to me; I will render to the man according to his deed.”


I gave my back to those who struck me, and my cheeks to those who plucked out my beard; I did not cover my face from shame and spitting.


Let him give his cheek to the one who strikes, and let him be filled with insults.


You shall not take vengeance, nor bear any grudge against the sons of your people, but you shall love your neighbor as yourself: I am the Lord.


Now gather yourself in troops, O daughter of troops; he has laid siege against us. With a rod they will strike the judge of Israel on the cheek.


And if anyone sues you in a court of law and takes away your tunic, let him have your cloak also.


When they had blindfolded Him, they struck Him on the face and asked Him, “Prophesy! Who struck You?”


The scribes and the Pharisees watched Him to see whether He would heal on the Sabbath, so that they might find an accusation against Him.


Jesus answered him, “If I have spoken evil, bear witness of the evil, but if well, why do you strike me?”


Now therefore it is already an utter failure for you that you go to law against one another. Why not rather be wronged? Why not rather be defrauded?


See that no one renders evil for evil to anyone. But always seek to do good to one another and to all.


You have not yet resisted to bloodshed while striving against sin.


You have condemned and killed the righteous man who does not resist you.


Do not repay evil for evil, or curse for curse, but on the contrary, bless, knowing that to this you are called, so that you may receive a blessing.
