‘My father made me swear, saying, “I am about to die. Bury me in my tomb which I dug for myself in the land of Canaan.” Now therefore please let me go up and bury my father, and then I will return.’ ”


What right do you have here? And whom do you have here that you have dug out for yourself a tomb here, as he who hews out for himself a tomb on high, and who cuts a habitation for himself in a rock?


His grave was assigned with the wicked, yet with the rich in his death, because he had done no violence, nor was any deceit in his mouth.


When Joseph had taken the body, he wrapped it in a clean linen cloth,


So they went and made the tomb secure by sealing the stone and posting the guard.


And behold, there was a great earthquake. For the angel of the Lord descended from heaven and came and rolled back the stone from the door and sat on it.


They found the stone rolled away from the tomb.


Then Jesus, again groaning within Himself, came to the tomb. It was a cave, and a stone was lying against it.

Now in the place where He was crucified there was a garden, and in the garden was a new tomb in which no one had ever been buried.


Early on the first day of the week, Mary Magdalene went to the tomb while it was still dark and saw that the stone had been taken away from the tomb.
