because for Your sake I have borne reproach; shame has covered my face.


Thus says the Lord, the Redeemer of Israel, and his Holy One, to the despised one, to the one whom the nation abhors, to the servant of rulers: “Kings shall see and arise, princes also shall worship, because of the Lord who is faithful and the Holy One of Israel who has chosen you.”


He was despised and rejected of men, a man of sorrows and acquainted with grief. And we hid, as it were, our faces from him; he was despised, and we did not esteem him.


O  Lord, You have deceived me and I was deceived; You are stronger than I and have prevailed. I am held in derision daily; everyone mocks me.


and deliver Him to the Gentiles to mock, and to scourge, and to crucify Him, but on the third day He will rise.”


He immediately came to Jesus and said, “Hail, Rabbi!” and kissed Him.


They put His accusation over His head, which read: this is jesus the king of the jews.


They clothed Him with a purple robe. And they wove a crown of thorns and put it on His head,


and began to salute Him, “Hail, King of the Jews!”
