I gave my back to those who struck me, and my cheeks to those who plucked out my beard; I did not cover my face from shame and spitting.


But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement of our peace was upon him, and by his stripes we are healed.


and deliver Him to the Gentiles to mock, and to scourge, and to crucify Him, but on the third day He will rise.”


They will mock Him, and scourge Him, and spit on Him, and kill Him. Then after three days He will rise.”


So Pilate, resolving to satisfy the people, released Barabbas to them. And when he had scourged Jesus, he handed Him over to be crucified.


I will therefore chastise Him and release Him.”
