Then the chief priests, the scribes, and the elders of the people gathered in the palace of the high priest, who was called Caiaphas,


“Reconcile with your adversary quickly, while you are on the way with him, lest your adversary deliver you to the judge, and the judge deliver you to the officer, and you be thrown into prison.


Then they arrested Him, and led Him away, and brought Him into the high priest’s house. Peter followed at a distance.


Meanwhile Simon Peter was standing and warming himself. So they said to him, “Are you not also one of His disciples?” He denied it and said, “I am not!”


When the chief priests and officers saw Him, they cried out, “Crucify Him! Crucify Him!” Pilate said to them, “Take Him yourselves and crucify Him, for I find no guilt in Him.”


The Pharisees heard the people murmuring these things concerning Him. So the Pharisees and the chief priests sent officers to arrest Him.


Then the officers came to the chief priests and Pharisees, who said to them, “Why did you not bring Him?”


But when the officers came and did not find them in the prison, they returned and reported,


Then the captain with his escorts went and brought them, without force lest they should be stoned, for they feared the people.
