Then Judah said to Tamar, his daughter-in-law, “Remain a widow at your father’s house until Shelah my son grows up.” For he thought, “He may die also, just as his brothers did.” So Tamar went and lived in her father’s house.


Then Judah said to Onan, “Go have relations with your brother’s wife, and marry her, and raise up descendants for your brother.”


They sent their disciples to Him with the Herodians, saying, “Teacher, we know that You are truthful and teach the way of God truthfully, and are swayed by no one. For You do not regard the person of men.


Now there were seven brothers with us. The first died after he married and, having no children, left his wife to his brother.
