He said to them, “Whose is this image and inscription?”


Jesus said to him, “ ‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind.’


Then Jesus said to him, “Get away from here, Satan! For it is written, ‘You shall worship the Lord your God, and Him only shall you serve.’ ”


Then Jesus answered them, “Render to Caesar the things that are Caesar’s, and to God the things that are God’s.” And they were amazed at Him.


He said to them, “Then render to Caesar what is Caesar’s, and to God what is God’s.”


And they began to accuse Him, saying, “We found this Man perverting our nation, and forbidding us to pay taxes to Caesar, and saying that He Himself is Christ a King.”


But Peter and John answered them, “Whether it is right in the sight of God to listen to you more than to God, you judge.


Peter and the other apostles answered, “We must obey God rather than men.


Render therefore to all what is due them: taxes to whom taxes are due, revenue to whom revenue is due, respect to whom respect is due, and honor to whom honor is due.
