What more could have been done to My vineyard that I have not done in it? Why, when I expected it to bring forth good grapes, did it bring forth wild grapes?


I also have sent to you all My servants the prophets, rising up early and sending them, saying, “Return now every man from his evil way and amend your deeds, and do not go after other gods to serve them, and you will dwell in the land that I have given to you and to your fathers.” But you have not inclined your ear or obeyed Me.


“The vinedressers took his servants and beat one, killed another, and stoned another.


“But when the vinedressers saw the son, they said to themselves, ‘This is the heir. Come, let us kill him and seize his inheritance.’


“Therefore, when the owner of the vineyard comes, what will he do to those vinedressers?”


They said, “He will severely destroy those wicked men and rent his vineyard to other vinedressers who will give him the fruits in their seasons.”


and sent out his servants to call those who were invited to the wedding, but they would not come.


He began to speak to them in parables. “A man planted a vineyard, and set a hedge around it, and dug a pit for the winepress, and built a tower, and rented it to vinedressers, and went to a far country.


“But those vinedressers said among themselves, ‘This is the heir. Come, let us kill him, and the inheritance will be ours.’


“What then will the owner of the vineyard do? He will come and kill the vinedressers and give the vineyard to others.


He began to tell the people this parable: “A man planted a vineyard, and leased it to vinedressers, and went to a distant country for a long time.
