He was very smitten by Dinah the daughter of Jacob, and he loved the girl and spoke kindly to her.


I am distressed for you, my brother Jonathan; you were very dear to me; your love was more remarkable than the love of women.


from the nations which the Lord warned the Israelites about, saying, “You shall not go in to them, nor shall they come in to you, for they will surely turn your heart away toward their gods.” Solomon clung to these in love.


Listen, O daughter, consider and incline your ear; forget your own people and your father’s house,


My soul clings to You; Your right hand upholds me.


Did He not make them one, having a remnant of the Spirit? And why one? He seeks godly offspring. So take heed to your spirit, that you do not deal treacherously.


So they are no longer two, but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let no man put asunder.”


Let love be without hypocrisy. Hate what is evil. Cling to what is good.


What? Do you not know that he who is joined to a harlot is one body with her? For “the two,” He says, “shall become one flesh.”


Nevertheless, because of sexual immorality, let every man have his own wife, and let every woman have her own husband.


The wife does not have authority over her own body, but the husband does. Likewise, the husband does not have authority over his own body, but the wife does.


“For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and shall be joined to his wife, and the two shall be one flesh.”


You must fear the Lord your God. You must serve Him and cling to Him, and swear by His name.


For if you diligently keep all these commandments which I am commanding you to do —to love the Lord your God, to walk in all His ways, and to hold fast to Him —


But you who held fast to the Lord your God are alive to this day, every one of you.


When he had finished speaking to Saul, the soul of Jonathan was bound to the soul of David, so that Jonathan loved him as his own soul.
