And He who does not take his cross and follow after Me is not worthy of Me.


As they came out, they found a man of Cyrene, Simon by name. This man they compelled to bear His cross.


Then Jesus, looking upon him, loved him and said to him, “You lack one thing: Go your way, sell whatever you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. And come, take up the cross and follow Me.”


They compelled a man named Simon from Cyrene, the father of Alexander and Rufus, as he was passing through from the country, to bear Jesus’ cross.


When He had called the people to Him, with His disciples, He said to them, “If any man would come after Me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow Me.


And whoever does not bear his cross and follow Me cannot be My disciple.


As they led Him away, they seized Simon of Cyrene, who was coming from the country, and they laid the cross on him to carry it behind Jesus.


He went out, carrying His own cross, to a place called The Place of a Skull, which in Hebrew is called Golgotha.


He said this, signifying by what kind of death he would glorify God. When He had said this, He said to him, “Follow Me.”


Jesus said to him, “If it is My will that he remain until I come, what is that to you? Follow Me!”


strengthening the minds of the disciples and exhorting them to continue in the faith, to go through many afflictions and thus enter the kingdom of God.


Now I rejoice in my sufferings for your sake and fill up in my flesh that which is lacking in the afflictions of Christ, for the sake of His body, which is the church.


so that no one would be shaken by these afflictions. For you know that we are appointed to this.


Yes, and all who desire to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will suffer persecution.


For to this you were called, because Christ suffered for us, leaving us an example, that you should follow His steps:
