It is time for You, O  Lord, to act, for they have broken Your law.


The earth also is defiled by its inhabitants because they have transgressed the laws, violated the ordinances, broken the everlasting covenant.


Therefore, the Lord said: Because this people draw near with their mouths and honor Me with their lips, but have removed their hearts far from Me, and their fear toward Me is tradition by the precept of men,


“The king shall do according to his will. And he shall exalt himself, and magnify himself above every god, and shall speak blasphemous things against the God of gods, and shall prosper until the indignation is accomplished, for that which is determined shall be done.


He shall speak words against the Most High and shall wear out the saints of the Most High and plan to change times and law. And they shall be given into his hand until a time and times and half a time.

For the Pharisees and all the Jews, unless they wash their hands ritually, do not eat, keeping the tradition of the elders.


So the Pharisees and scribes asked Him, “Why do Your disciples not live according to the tradition of the elders, but eat bread with unwashed hands?”
