In Jerusalem he made war machines by skilled men to be placed on towers and corners to shoot arrows and large stones. And his name went out for a great distance. He received great help until he was even more powerful.


And the Ammonites gave a gift to Uzziah, and his name spread even to the border of Egypt because he became quite powerful.


But when they had departed, they spread His fame in all that region.


Immediately His fame spread everywhere throughout the region surrounding Galilee.


Instead he went out and began to proclaim it widely and to spread the news around, so that Jesus could no more openly enter the city, but was out in remote places. And they came to Him from everywhere.


They answered, “John the Baptist, but some say, Elijah; and others, one of the prophets.”


On the same day certain Pharisees came, saying to Him, “Get out and depart from here, for Herod wants to kill You.”


In the fifteenth year of the reign of Caesar Tiberius, Pontius Pilate was governor of Judea, Herod was tetrarch of Galilee, his brother Philip was tetrarch of Iturea and the region of Traconitis, and Lysanias was the tetrarch of Abilene.


This rumor of Him went throughout all Judea and the surrounding region.


They answered, “John the Baptist. But some say Elijah. And others say that one of the old prophets has risen.”


For the word of the Lord sounded out from you not only in Macedonia and Achaia, but also in every place your faith in God has gone forth, so that we do not need to say anything.


God also bearing witness, with signs and wonders and various miracles, and with gifts of the Holy Spirit, distributed according to His own will.
