When Jesus perceived it, He said to them, “Why do you trouble the woman? She has done a good work for Me.


He said, “Go into the city to a certain man, and say to him, ‘The Teacher says, My time is at hand. I will keep the Passover at your house with My disciples.’ ”


While He was speaking these things to them, behold, a certain ruler came and worshipped Him, saying, “My daughter is even now dead. But come and lay Your hand on her, and she will live.”


When He set out on His way, a man came running and knelt before Him, and asked Him, “Good Teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life?”


One of the rulers of the synagogue, named Jairus, saw Jesus and came and fell at His feet


While He was still speaking, someone from the synagogue ruler’s house came, saying to Jairus, “Your daughter is dead. Do not trouble the Teacher.”


Martha said to Jesus, “Lord, if You had been here, my brother would not have died.


Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, yet shall he live.


When she had said this, she went her way and secretly called her sister Mary, saying, “The Teacher has come and is calling for you.”


When Mary came to where Jesus was, and saw Him, she fell down at His feet, saying to Him, “Lord, if You had been here, my brother would not have died.”


Jesus said, “Take away the stone.” Martha, the sister of him who was dead, said to Him, “Lord, by this time there is a stench, for he has been dead four days.”


Truly, truly I say to you, the hour is coming, and is now here, when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God, and those who hear will live.
