And going on from there, He saw two other brothers, James the son of Zebedee and John his brother, in a boat with Zebedee their father, mending their nets, and He called them.


Then James and John, the sons of Zebedee, came to Him, saying, “Teacher, we want that whatever we may ask, You would do for us.”


He took Peter and James and John with Him and began to be greatly distressed and very troubled.


Andrew, and Philip, and Bartholomew, and Matthew, and Thomas; and James the son of Alphaeus; and Thaddaeus, and Simon the Zealot;


He let no one follow Him, except Peter, and James, and John the brother of James.


After six days Jesus took with Him Peter and James and John and led them up a high mountain, alone by themselves. And He was transfigured before them.


When His disciples James and John saw this, they said, “Lord, do You want us to command fire to come down from heaven and consume them, even as Elijah did?”


Simon Peter; Thomas, called Didymus; Nathanael of Cana in Galilee; the sons of Zebedee; and two more of His disciples were together.


About that time King Herod extended his hands to harm certain ones from the church.


For the word of God is alive, and active, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, of joints and marrow, and able to judge the thoughts and intents of the heart.
