As they came out, they found a man of Cyrene, Simon by name. This man they compelled to bear His cross.


And whoever compels you to go one mile, go with him two.


When they had mocked Him, they took the purple robe off of Him and put His own garments on Him. Then they led Him out to crucify Him.


And whoever does not bear his cross and follow Me cannot be My disciple.


As they led Him away, they seized Simon of Cyrene, who was coming from the country, and they laid the cross on him to carry it behind Jesus.


He went out, carrying His own cross, to a place called The Place of a Skull, which in Hebrew is called Golgotha.


Some of them were men of Cyprus and Cyrene, who, when they had come to Antioch, spoke to the Hellenists, preaching the Lord Jesus.


In the church that was in Antioch there were prophets and teachers: Barnabas, Simeon who was called Niger, Lucius of Cyrene, Manaen who had been brought up with Herod the tetrarch, and Saul.


Phrygia and Pamphylia, Egypt and the regions of Libya near Cyrene, and visitors from Rome, both Jews and proselytes,


Then some men rose up from what is called the Synagogue of the Freedmen (Cyrenians, Alexandrians, and those from Cilicia and of Asia), disputing with Stephen.


Greet Rufus, chosen in the Lord, and his mother, who is like a mother to me.
