Therefore, thus says the Lord God: Behold, I lay in Zion a stone, a tested stone, a precious cornerstone, firmly placed; he who believes shall not act hastily.


But He said to them, “Have you not read what David and those who were with him did when he was hungry,


He answered, “Have you not read that He who made them at the beginning ‘made them male and female,’


and said to Him, “Do You hear what these are saying?” Jesus said to them, “Yes. Have you never read, ‘Out of the mouth of children and infants You have perfected praise’ ?”


Jesus said to them, “Have you never read in the Scriptures: ‘The stone which the builders rejected has become the cornerstone. This is the Lord’s doing, and it is marvelous in our eyes’ ?


But concerning the resurrection of the dead, have you not read what was spoken to you by God,


Now concerning the dead rising, have you not read in the Book of Moses, in the account about the bush, how God spoke to him, saying, ‘I am the God of Abraham and the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob’ ?


“What then will the owner of the vineyard do? He will come and kill the vinedressers and give the vineyard to others.


“When you see the ‘abomination of desolation’ spoken of by Daniel the prophet standing where it should not be (let the reader understand), then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains.


He said to them, “Have you never read what David did, when he and those who were with him were in need and hungry:


Jesus answered them, “Have you not read what David did when he and those who were with him were hungry?


As it is written: “Behold, I lay in Zion a stumbling stone and rock of offense, and whoever believes in Him will not be ashamed.”
