So it was broken that day, and the afflicted of the flock were watching me and knew that this was the word of the Lord.


Simon and those who were with Him followed Him,


He said to them, “Let us go into the nearby towns, that I may preach there also. For that is why I have come.”


The whole region of Judea and all the people of Jerusalem went out to him and were all baptized by him in the Jordan River, confessing their sins.


If we leave Him alone like this, everyone will believe in Him, and the Romans will come and take away both our temple and our nation.”


So the Pharisees said among themselves, “See, you are gaining nothing! Look, the world has followed Him!”


They came to John and said to him, “Rabbi, He who was with you beyond the Jordan, to whom you bore witness, look, He is baptizing, and everyone is going to Him.”
