He left the oxen and ran after Elijah and said, “Please let me kiss my father and mother, and then I will follow you.” And he said to him, “Go back, for what have I done to you?”


“He who loves father or mother more than Me is not worthy of Me. And he who loves son or daughter more than Me is not worthy of Me.


When He had gone a little farther from there, He saw James the son of Zebedee and John, his brother, who also were in the boat mending their nets.


They went to Capernaum, and immediately on the Sabbath He entered the synagogue and taught.


Jesus said, “Truly I say to you, there is no one who has left a house or brothers or sisters or father or mother or wife or children or fields, for My sake and for the gospel’s sake,


“If anyone comes to Me and does not hate his father and mother and wife and children and brothers and sisters, yes, and even his own life, he cannot be My disciple.


So when they had brought their boats to land, they left everything and followed Him.


So from now on we do not regard anyone according to the flesh. Yes, though we have known Christ according to the flesh, yet we do not regard Him as such from now on.


who said to his father and to his mother, “I have not seen him,” and he did not acknowledge his brothers or know his own children, for they have kept Your word and guarded Your covenant.
