Moses went into the midst of the cloud and went up to the mountain. And Moses was on the mountain for forty days and forty nights.


So he was there with the Lord forty days and forty nights. He did not eat bread or drink water. And He wrote on the tablets the words of the covenant, the Ten Commandments.


Do you think that I cannot now pray to My Father, and He will at once give Me more than twelve legions of angels?


Then Jesus was led up into the wilderness by the Spirit to be tempted by the devil.


Jesus, being filled with the Holy Spirit, returned from the Jordan and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness,


At the end of forty days and forty nights, the Lord gave me the two tablets of stone, the tablets of the covenant.


I fell down before the Lord, as at the first, forty days and forty nights. I did not eat bread or drink water because of all your sins which you committed, doing what was wicked in the sight of the Lord to provoke Him to anger.


So I fell down before the Lord forty days and forty nights; I fell down because the Lord had said He would destroy you.


Without question, great is the mystery of godliness: God was revealed in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen by angels, preached to the Gentiles, believed on in the world, taken up into glory.


For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but One who was in every sense tempted like we are, yet without sin.
