because you neglected all my counsel, and would have none of my reproof,


How do you say, “We are wise, and the law of the Lord is with us”? But behold, the lying pen of the scribes has made it into a lie.


One of them, who was a lawyer, tested Him by asking Him,


“O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, which kills the prophets and stones those who are sent to you! How often would I have gathered your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, and you were not willing!


But if we say, ‘From men,’ all the people will stone us, for they are persuaded that John was a prophet.”


Then the Lord said, “To what then shall I compare the men of this generation, and what are they like?


For I did not keep from declaring to you the whole counsel of God.


But to Israel He says: “All day long I have stretched out My hands to a disobedient and contrary people.”


As workers together with God, we ask you not to receive the grace of God in vain.


I do not nullify the grace of God. For if righteousness comes by the law, then Christ died in vain.


In Him also we have received an inheritance, being predestined according to the purpose of Him who works all things according to the counsel of His own will,
