48 He is like a man who built a house, and dug deep, and laid the foundation on rock. When the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently against that house, but could not shake it, for it was founded on rock.

For who is God except the Lord? And who is a rock except our God?


The Lord lives; blessed be my rock. May the God of the rock of my salvation be exalted,


When the waves of death encompassed me, the currents of destruction made me afraid.


The God of Israel said, the rock of Israel spoke to me: He who rules over man justly, who rules in the fear of God,


For this cause everyone who is godly will pray to You in a time when You may be found; surely in the flood of great waters, they shall not reach him.


He alone is my rock and my salvation; He is my refuge; I shall not be greatly shaken.


O come, let us sing to the Lord; let us shout joyfully to the rock of our salvation!


When the tempest passes, the wicked is no more, but the righteous stands firm forever.


Trust in the Lord forever, for in God the Lord we have an everlasting rock.


Therefore, thus says the Lord God: Behold, I lay in Zion a stone, a tested stone, a precious cornerstone, firmly placed; he who believes shall not act hastily.


So shall they fear the name of the Lord from the west and His glory from the rising of the sun; when the enemy shall come in like a flood, the Spirit of the Lord shall lift up a standard against him.


As a flood running forth, He will bring to an end the distress, and He will pursue His adversaries into darkness.


Whoever comes to Me and hears My words and does them, I will show whom he is like:


But he who hears and does not obey is like a man who built a house on the ground without a foundation, against which the stream beat vehemently. Immediately it fell, and the ruin of that house was great.”


“I have told you these things so that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have distress. But be of good cheer. I have overcome the world.”


strengthening the minds of the disciples and exhorting them to continue in the faith, to go through many afflictions and thus enter the kingdom of God.


having been built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ Himself being the chief cornerstone,


But Jeshurun grew fat and kicked; you grew fat, you grew thick; you are covered with fat. Then he forsook God who made him, and devalued the rock of his salvation.


You have forgotten the rock who birthed you; you are unmindful, and have forgotten the God who gave you birth.


For their rock is not as our rock; even our enemies themselves concede this.


But the firm foundation of God stands, having this seal, “The Lord knows those who are His,” and, “Let everyone who calls on the name of Christ depart from iniquity.”


Therefore, brothers, diligently make your calling and election sure. For if you do these things, you will never stumble.


And now, little children, remain in Him, so that when He appears, we may have confidence and not be ashamed before Him when He comes.


Now to Him who is able to keep you from falling and to present you blameless before the presence of His glory with rejoicing,


“There is none holy as the Lord, for there is none besides You, and there is no rock like our God.
