The king said to the man of God, “Seek the face of the Lord your God, and pray for me, that my hand will be healed.” And the man of God interceded with the Lord, and the king’s hand was healed and became as it was before.


Thus says the Lord God: Because the Philistines have dealt by revenge and have taken vengeance with a spiteful heart to destroy with everlasting hatred,


therefore thus says the Lord God: Surely in the fire of My jealousy I have spoken against the rest of the nations and against all Edom, who have seized My land into their possession with the joy of all their hearts and with a spiteful soul, to cast it out for a prey.


But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you,


Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do.” And they divided His clothes by casting lots.


“But I say to you who hear, love your enemies, do good to those who hate you,


But love your enemies, and do good, and lend, hoping for nothing in return. Then your reward will be great, and you will be the sons of the Highest. For He is kind to the unthankful and the evil.


When an assault was planned by both Gentiles and Jews, with their leaders, to attack them and to stone them,


Then he knelt down and cried with a loud voice, “Lord, do not hold this sin against them.” Having said this, he fell asleep.


Bless those who persecute you; bless, and do not curse.


We labor, working with our own hands. Being reviled, we bless. Being persecuted, we endure.


Out of the same mouth proceed blessing and cursing. My brothers, these things ought not to be so.


Do not repay evil for evil, or curse for curse, but on the contrary, bless, knowing that to this you are called, so that you may receive a blessing.
