For he was obligated to release one man to them at the feast.


This man had been thrown in prison for an insurrection in the city and for murder.


But Peter stood at the door outside. Then the other disciple, who was known to the high priest, went out and spoke to the doorkeeper and brought Peter in.


For the mob of people followed, crying out, “Away with him!”


They listened to him up to this word, and then they lifted up their voices and said, “Away with such a man from the earth, for he is not fit to live!”


You denied the Holy and Righteous One and asked for a murderer to be granted to you,
