He who trusts in his own heart is a fool, but he who walks in wisdom will be delivered.


O  Lord, I know that the way of man is not in himself; it is not in man who walks to direct his steps.


The heart is more deceitful than all things and desperately wicked; who can understand it?


But Jesus answered, “You do not know what you are asking. Are you able to drink from the cup that I am to drink, and to be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with?” They said to Him, “We are able.”


Peter said to Him, “Even if all fall away, I will not.”


But he said more vehemently, “If I must die with You, I will not deny You.” They all said the same thing.


He said, “I tell you, Peter, before the cock crows today, you will deny three times that you know Me.”


But he denied Him, saying, “Woman, I do not know Him.”


Jesus answered Him, “Will you lay down your life for My sake? Truly, truly I say to you, the cock shall not crow until you have denied Me three times.


Then Paul answered, “What are you doing, weeping and breaking my heart? For I am ready not only to be imprisoned, but also to die in Jerusalem for the name of the Lord Jesus.”
