There was a small city with a few men in it. A great king came against it, surrounded it, and built great siege works against it.


“Therefore, thus says the Lord concerning the king of Assyria: He shall not come into this city, nor shoot an arrow there, nor come before it with shields, nor build a siege ramp against it.


He shall slay your daughters on the mainland with the sword. And he shall set up a siege wall against you and cast up a mound against you and lift up the roof of shields against you.


Then lay siege against it, and build a fort against it, and build a mound against it; set camps and place battering rams against it all around.


When the king heard about it, he was angry. He sent in his army and destroyed those murderers and burned up their city.


saying, “If you, even you, had known even today what things would bring you peace! But now they are hidden from your eyes.
