Therefore, bear fruit worthy of repentance,


Likewise, I tell you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents.”


But he answered his father, ‘Look! These many years have I served you. Nor have I ever transgressed your commands, yet never have you given me a goat, so that I might be merry with my friends.


But it was fitting to be merry and be glad, for this brother of yours was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found.’ ”


Then when he comes home, he calls together his friends and neighbors, saying to them, ‘Rejoice with me, for I have found my sheep which was lost.’


“Or what woman, having ten silver coins and losing one, does not light a candle and sweep the house and search diligently until she finds it?


He said to them, “You are those who justify yourselves before men, but God knows your hearts. For that which is highly esteemed before men is an abomination before God.


I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.”


I was alive without the law once, but when the commandment came, sin revived, and I died.
