There is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way to death.


Do you see a man who is wise in his own eyes? There is more hope for a fool than for him.


“The light of the body is the eye. Therefore, if your eye is healthy, your whole body will be full of light.


The eye is the lamp of the body. Therefore when your eye is good, your whole body also is full of light. But when your eye is bad, your body also is full of darkness.


If your whole body, then, is full of light, no part being dark, the whole body will be full of light, as when the bright shining of a lamp gives you light.”


Claiming to be wise, they became fools.


For he who lacks these things is blind and nearsighted, and has forgotten that he was cleansed from his past sins.


For when they speak arrogant words of vanity, they entice by the lusts of the flesh and by depravity those who barely escaped from those who live in error.


For you say, ‘I am rich, and have stored up goods, and have need of nothing,’ yet do not realize that you are wretched, miserable, poor, blind, and naked.
