For I said in my haste, “I am cut off from before Your eyes.” Nevertheless You heard the voice of my supplications when I cried out to You.


So I say, “My strength and my hope from the Lord have perished.”


Even when I cry for help, He shuts out my prayer.


Give to him who asks you, and from him who would borrow from you do not turn away.


For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks, it will be opened.


“If a son asks for bread from any of you who is a father, will you give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will you give him a serpent instead of a fish?


“And I tell you, ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.


He told them a parable to illustrate that it is necessary always to pray and not lose heart.


You ask, and do not receive, because you ask amiss, that you may spend it on your passions.


Behold, we consider them blessed who endure. You have heard of the patience of Job and have seen the purpose of the Lord, that the Lord is very gracious and merciful.
