Speak to the Israelites, saying: These are the living things which you shall eat among all the animals that are on the earth.


The carcass of every animal that divides the hoof, but is not completely split-hoofed, nor chews the cud, is unclean to you. Everyone who touches them shall be unclean.


Nevertheless these you shall not eat of those that chew the cud or of those that have a divided hoof: The camel, because it chews the cud but does not have a divided hoof, is unclean to you;


the rock badger, because it chews the cud but does not have a divided hoof, is unclean to you;


the hare, because it chews the cud but does not have a divided hoof, is unclean to you;


the pig, though it does have a divided hoof (that is, split-hoofed), yet it does not chew the cud, is unclean to you;


These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, for they received the word with all eagerness, daily examining the Scriptures, to find out if these things were so.


Therefore, “Come out from among them and be separate, says the Lord. Do not touch what is unclean, and I will receive you.”


You may eat every animal with divided hooves, with the hoof divided into two parts, and that chews the cud.


The pig is unclean to you because it divides the hoof, yet it does not chew the cud. You must not eat of their flesh or touch their dead carcass.


Meditate on these things. Give yourself completely to them, that your progress may be known to everyone.
