It cannot be valued in the gold of Ophir, with the precious onyx or the sapphire.


No mention will be made of coral or of pearls, for the price of wisdom is above rubies.


May our sons in their youth be like plants fully grown, our daughters like pillars, sculptured to adorn a palace;


Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean; wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.


and they saw the God of Israel, and under His feet there was something like a paved work of sapphire stone as clear as the sky itself.


My lover is radiant and ruddy, outstanding among ten thousand men.


His legs are pillars of alabaster, set on pedestals of pure gold. His countenance is like Lebanon, choice as the cedars.

but said to me, ‘Behold, you will conceive and bear a son. So now, do not drink wine or strong drink, and do not eat anything unclean, for the boy will be a Nazirite to God from the womb until the day he dies.’ ”


So he told her all his secrets and said to her, “No razor has touched my head, for I have been a Nazirite to God from my mother’s womb. If I were shaven, my strength would leave me, and I would become weak and be like all other men.”


So he sent and brought him in. Now he was ruddy with beautiful eyes and a good appearance. And the Lord said, “Arise, anoint him, for this is he.”
