24 Then Joshua, and all Israel with him, took Achan son of Zerah, the silver, the robe, the gold bar, his sons, his daughters, his oxen, his donkeys, his sheep, his tent, and all he had, and brought them up to the Valley of Achor.

Far be it from You to do such a thing as this, to slay the righteous with the wicked, so that the righteous should be treated like the wicked; far be it from You. Should not the Judge of all the earth do right?”


He has swallowed down riches, and he will vomit them up again; God will cast them out of his belly.

He who is greedy of unjust gain troubles his own house, but he who hates bribes will live.


There is a grave misery that I have observed under the sun: when riches were kept by an owner to his hurt,


Sharon shall be a fold of flocks, and the Valley of Achor a place for the herds to lie down in, for My people who seek Me.


From there, I will give her vineyards to her, and the Valley of Achor as a door of hope. She will respond there as in the days of her youth, and as in the day when she came up out of the land of Egypt.

As for you, keep yourselves from that which is dedicated for destruction, lest you be destroyed. If you take from that which is dedicated for destruction, you will set the Israelite camp for destruction and bring trouble upon it.


They destroyed all that was in the city: man and woman, young and old, and oxen, sheep, and donkey with the edge of the sword.


Yet the Israelites violated their obligations with regard to the things dedicated for destruction. Achan, son of Karmi, son of Zimri, son of Zerah, from the tribe of Judah took from the things dedicated for destruction, and the anger of the Lord burned against the Israelites.


They took it from the tent and brought it to Joshua and all the Israelites. They spread it out before the Lord.


Then they erected over him a large pile of stones, which is still there today. So the Lord turned from His burning anger. Therefore the name of the place is called the Valley of Achor to this day.
